In July 1995, Bill Chaves Jr. presented the idea of an Athletic Hall of Fame to the Town Council of Enfield, CT. The support was granted and the organization was formed. Bill Chaves drafted a life-long friend, Mike Cotnoir to act as his co-Chair. The organization started with its first induction ceremony in August 1966. A few years later, Chaves moved on to pursue his dream of becoming an Athletic Director for a Div. 1 University. He is currently the Athletic Director at University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND. His career stops along the way included: Eastern Washington University, University of Northern Colorado, Baylor, UMASS, Northeastern, and Quinnipiac University. Mike Cotnoir has led the organization as Chairman since Bill Chaves departure in 1999.
