NANCY (RIVARD) GEAGLONE
Graduated from Enfield High School (EHS) Class of 1987. Three-sport varsity athlete; field hockey, basketball, and softball. Member of EHS field hockey back-to-back Class M champions (1983 & 84), while playing varsity Field Hockey all 4 years. Named All-CCC East 1985 & 1986, 2nd team All-State in 1986 and Captain. Played Varsity Basketball for 4 years at EHS, and named All-CCC East 1986-1987 and captain. Exceled at Softball for 3 years, and selected to the 1986 All-CCC East team. Attended Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) and played multiple sports. Played Field Hockey in 1987 & 1988, and named most improved player in 1988. Was on the SCSU Rugby team for 2 years. Coaching highlights include: EHS Assistant Field Hockey Coach 1992-1996, 3-straight Class M championships (1992,1993,1994). JV/Varsity basketball 1993-97 and softball in 1994. Western New England College Head Field Hockey Coach 1996-1998. Granby Memorial High School: Varsity Girls lacrosse Co-Coach from 2005-2012 (Division 2 state runner-up 2011). Varsity Girls tennis Co-Coach in 2016. Granby Memorial Middle School: Field Hockey Coach 2005-present.
FRANK NEVES
Graduated from Enfield High School (EHS) in 1978. Played Varsity Football at EHS in 1977 & 1978. Strong family roots in umpiring with his father, John, sparking his interest at an early age. Graduated from Al Somers Umpire School in 1979, and was hired by Minor League Umpire Development for the New York/Penn League. Spent three seasons in the South Atlantic (Sally) League, then earning a promotion to the Carolina League. Worked home plate at the Met’s Shea Stadium, with Dwight Gooden on the mound, who was one of many future big leaguers he shared the field with over the course of his career. After two seasons in the Southern League, he moved over to the Florida State League where he earned the role of crew chief in the league championship series. He also umpired stints in Class AAA spring training and in the Class AA Eastern League. Continued post-minor league career umpiring in NCAA Division’s 1, 2 and 3, and selected twice for Division 1 regional championships. His umpiring continued over 30 years in conferences that included the ACC, Big East, Atlantic 10, Pac 12, MACC, Ivy, Colonial and Northeast. Further roles included summer baseball, including the Cape Cod, Futures, Tri-County and NECBL leagues. Twice worked the Beanpot Championship at Fenway Park. Named Three-time Western Mass Umpire Association President, and two-time rules interpreter. Conducted umpire clinics and often mentored new talent. Highly respected for integrity, judgement, and fair play on the diamond. Learned football officiating as a line judge, umpire and referee, while working Division 3 college, semi-professional and high school levels for 15 years.
PHOUTTHASACK (PHO) PHIMVONGSA
Graduated in the Class of 1995. Led the EHS Varsity Tennis team to three consecutive CCC East titles. Completed his high school career with a 60-1 record, including a perfect 13-0 record in regular season matches. In 1993, made Class M semifinals, 15-1 regular season (only loss was by default due to injury). Three-time All-State tennis honors in 1993,1994, and 1995. In 1995, team was 13-0 in the regular season record (ending his career with 43-1 regular season record, with only loss due to injury), and winning their third straight CCC East title. Was the singles semi-finalist in the 1995 Class MM tournament. Dedicated tennis player in the Junior Circuit of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), and reached top ranking in New England for boys fourteen and sixteen year’s old. Recruited to play on the Division 1 Men’s Tennis team at the University of Connecticut (UConn), where he was a standout player for the Huskies. His last season with the UConn Men’s Tennis team ended in 2000 with record setting wins in a single-season at 20-5. The Huskies placed seventh at the BIG EAST Championships that year. Over 25 years of combined experience as a professional tennis instructor at the Manchester Racquet Club, Enfield Tennis Club, and Bloomfield Tennis and Pickleball Club.

TERRANCE (TERRY) PRESTON
Graduated from Enrico Fermi High School in 1980. Three-year member of the Fermi Boys Varsity Basketball team that qualified for the State tournament in 1978 and 1980. Named team co-captain in senior year. Played two years of college basketball at the University of Hartford. Since 2002, has competed in the Connecticut and National Senior Games in three-on-three Basketball. In the Connecticut games, has won over ten Gold Metals, and National games in Cleveland, OH (2013), and Fort Lauderdale, FL (2022). Participated in other National Senior games in Minneapolis, MN (2015), Birmingham, AL (2017), and Pittsburgh, PA (2023). Served as a Coach for multiple years in Thompsonville Little League and Parks & Recreation Basketball league. Assistant Director of Park & Recreation basketball program for 3 years.
JOHNNY RILEY
Graduated from Enfield High School (EHS) in 1937. Silver Mittens Boxing Champion in late 1930. Fought several main events at the old Valley Arena in Holyoke MA. At the 1939 Novice Tournament in New Haven, Connecticut, was named “Outstanding Prospect in all the Nutmeg territories. He earned the designation of a “142-pound punching fool”. Many of his fights were held at the V.F.W. Arena on Belmont Avenue in Enfield. Entered the US Navy just days after Pearl Harbor, and served on the U.S.S. Wichita until his honorable discharge in 1945. Represented U.S.S Wichita in World War II as boxer, and was Atlantic Fleet Champion. Boxed in England, Scotland, California, and the Aleutian Islands. Had ranked semi-professional Welterweight fights in Connecticut. Widely regarded as the best boxer to ever come out of Enfield, CT with an overall record of 18-1-1, including eighteen knockouts. Trained for a time in the New York City stable of the legendary Heavyweight Champion, James J. Braddock.
BRUCE WILHELM – The George Daly Jr. Special Recognition Award
A 40+ year volunteer with Enfield Soccer. Coached at the recreational and travel levels, including the Enfield Express from 1988-1993, a girl’s travel team, that was a finalist in the CJSA 1989 Connecticut Cup. Coached a boy’s travel team, Enfield Eagles, from 1996-2004. Served as an Assistant Coach for the Enfield Crush, a girl’s travel team, from 2018-2025. Held several administrative roles with the Enfield Soccer, including from 1986-2012, was the club Registrar, managing player registrations, team placements, and roster approvals. Member of the Kevin Barmak Soccer Tournament committee from 1997-2012, and developed the tournament game schedules and compiled scores. For 30+ years, has been the District Registrar for the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association’s (CJSA) North Central District. Partnered with Assistant District & Club registrars to ensure players, coaches, and teams of the 17 member clubs are properly registered to compete in their respective play level. 25-year volunteer with the Central/North Central Competitive Soccer League, and served the Governing Board for team placements. Added responsibilities include League Administrator, in maintaining the league registration-scoring application, developing game schedules, reporting game scores, and issuing end of season results. Age Group Director since 2013 for the statewide CJSA Connecticut Cup 2x a year soccer tournament. Recipient of CJSA 2024 Volunteer of the Year. Received the 2025 John Wentworth Good Sport Award, a statewide honor, by the Connecticut Sports Media Alliance.
