Coached soccer at Slippery Rock University (‘86-87); Central Connecticut State University Assistant men’s soccer coach (‘88); Manchester (CT) Junior College head coach men’s soccer team (’89); Clemson University Assistant coach/recruiting coordinator for men’s soccer (’90-92). University of Central Florida- head coach varsity Men’s soccer (’93-’05) & Named UCF Coach of the Year. UCF earned first Atlantic Sun Championship (’02). 1998, 2002, 2003 & 2004 Conference Champions for UCF. Three consecutive NCAA National Tournament 2nd round appearances at UCF 2002, 2003 & 2004. 6 Conference Championships. Coach of the Year Awards (’93, ’96, ’02, ’04). Assistant women’s soccer coach at Auburn University (’05-’06); The Citadel women’s soccer (’06-present). Southern Conference Coach of the year (’09 & ’10). Entering his 6th season as the head coach of The Citadel women’s soccer program, and is coming off the most successful season in program history. The Bulldogs placed third in the Southern Conference, including their first conference tournament appearance and victory. Earned his second consecutive Southern Conference Coach of the Year honor.

FRANK (LEFTY) JEDZINIAK

Enfield High School (1934) – Star baseball player and local baseball legend.   Superb left-handed pitcher who left Thompsonville on freight train to go pursue his dream of playing professional baseball.  Went on to play in as high leagues such as Triple-A, within the Philadelphia Phillies and St. Louis Cardinals minor league organizations.  Was thrilled to play some spring training games with his idol, Stan Musial in attendance. Was highly recruited as a pitcher to play in many Connecticut and Massachusetts leagues.  Played numerous years in the Springfield (MA) AAA Tri-County baseball league (Bigelow Weavers), Pratt & Whitney, Irish-American, and Polish-American teams.  Was named the 1946 Most Valuable Player in the Hartford Twilight League, where he played for many years, and ultimately played organized baseball for over 20 years.

COLLEEN FINNERTY

“Finn” graduated Enfield High School in 1990 & played Varsity Field Hockey, Basketball and Softball.  EHS Field Hockey: All-League, All-Conference, All-State. Named team Captain and MVP (’90).  CCC East Champs (’90) and named to the Senior All Star Game and scored our only goal (1-1). EHS Basketball: All-League, All- Conference (’90) and named team Captain & MVP.  CCC East Champs. EHS Softball: All- League, All–Conference (’90) & named team Captain & MVP.  Mitchell Junior College Field Hockey (’90-’92). Played on the National Junior College Championship Field Hockey team. Div. I Field Hockey at Southwest Missouri State University. Two time All- American, Two-time Regional MVP, and Named MVP of National Championship game.  Scored the winning goal with 2 seconds left in overtime to win the National Championship.  Earned a full scholarship to SMSU, Div. 1.  Southwest Missouri State University Field Hockey (’92-’94): Played Two time All-Conference, Two time All-Tournament Team, All-Tournament MVP my senior year.  Two-time Independent Conference Champions and Independent Conference MVP. Team Captain my senior year. Ranked in the top 10 of the NCAA  Div. 1 in 3 categories (goals, assist and points per game). SMSU Handball- Played 1 year on the 5 time defending NCAA Div.1 Handball Team when my field hockey career ended. Currently, a Physical Education Teacher in Ridgecrest, California.

BOB VRANICH

Fermi High School (1988) – Dominated Track & Field 1984-1988.; Basketball 1984-1986; Football 1984-1988 for FHS. Finished 2nd place in CT State voting for quarterback (1987) and threw 23 TD’s/2,247 yards. 1989 Williston Northampton Football, Basketball, Track & Field.  Indiana University of Pennsylvania – 1990-1994.1993 NCAA Div. II  National Champion Javelin Throw. 1993 PSAC Track and Field Athlete of the Year 1991 & 1992 – 2nd place, (PSAC). Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference meet. 1991 Penn Relays Champion 1st place 1992 4th place Penn Relays; 1992 – Olympic Trials provisional qualifier, personal best throw 229’-1” . 1993 – PSAC Championship meet 1st place. 1990-1993 Four time All-American in Javelin Throw placed 5th, 4th, 3rd, 1st.nationally. Inducted into the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Athletic Hall of Fame (2011).

Enfield High School (1985). Football 3-years. Southern Connecticut State University (‘92 – BS) & (‘94 – MS); Asst. Football Coach at Enfield High School team (’88 – ’91); Cheshire High School Asst. Football Coach (‘92-‘95), including 4 State Titles, and 1994 & 1995 New England Champions; Combined 4-year record of 46-0. Linebacker coach University of San Diego (’96); Defensive coordinator at Occidental College (1997-’99)  with Conference championship in ’99; Linebacker’s Coach UNLV (’00-’01); Head coach at Granite Hills High School (San Diego, CA – ’01); Director of Football Operations for the New England Patriots (’02-’04);  Served as an offensive quality control assistant in Patriots 2003 Super Bowl Championship season.  Athletic Director at West Los Angeles College (’05-’06); Cleveland Browns Asst. Special teams coach (’07-’08); Director of Football Operations for KC Chiefs (’09-’10).

MARION WALSH RILEY

Marion Walsh Riley taught dance for 61 years, 42 of them in the town of Enfield.  She choreographed many local plays and productions.  She sponsored the Riley School of Dance softball team from 1978 to 1998, the longest running sponsor in the leagues history.  She was the first sponsor to supply her team with uniforms.  Marion also sponsored teams in the Enfield Girls softball league for many years. She was a mentor to many young girls in Enfield and other surrounding towns.  Since Marion’s passing in 1999 the Riley School of Dance created the Marion Walsh Riley performing arts scholarship which has awarded over $200,000 in college scholarships to local students.
